Richard “Dick” Allen Sovde Sr. was born in Karlstad, on June 25, 1939 to Melvin and Mable (Wollin) Sovde. Dick attended elementary school in Karlstad and transferred to Greenbush in 1950. He graduated from Greenbush Public High School in 1957.
Dick was united in marriage to Virginia Reese on June 13, 1959. They established themselves in Greenbush, and together raised three children.
Dick was employed at several locations, working in construction and as a truck driver. Until the spring of 2005, he was employed at the Farmer’s Co-op Ag Service in Greenbush.
Dick’s favorite past time was engaging in conversation (whether it was telling stories or an infamous joke). He also volunteered on the Greenbush Fire Department for more than 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, long drives on back country roads, and watching local sporting events. Dick was never quick to brag, except when it came to his grandchildren.
Dick lived life to the fullest, and he will be sadly missed by all.
