Thief River Falls- Selma Haun, 88, died Saturday, December 10, 2005 at CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls. Casket bearers include: Roy Gilbert, Arnie Carriere, Steve Carriere, Jerry Maas, and Sherman Gunderson. Honorary casket bearers include her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service, Wednesday.
Selma “Sammie” Jensen was born September 11, 1917 in Mayfield Township, Pennington County, the daughter of Soren and Carrie (Legvold) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended grade school in rural Oklee, and attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1937.
In 1950, Sammie married Warrant Officer Leroy Haun, United States Army in Tokyo, Japan. She worked for the United States Federal Government in Washington, D.C. and Tokyo, Japan, retiring from Federal Service at San Antonio, Texas in 1983 and then moved back to Thief River Falls.
Sammie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. She enjoyed golfing and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Ruth Gilbert of Thief River Falls, Linda Johnson of Thief River Falls, Kathy Carriere of Fargo, N.D., Carol Maas of Minneapolis, and Sherman Gunderson of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy in 1975; an infant daughter; sisters, Clara Johnson and Leola Gunderson; and brothers, Osmond and Leon Jensen. A00003B2005DC14
