Roseau - Hilda Linna Peterson, 78, died at her home in Roseau on Tuesday, November 29, 2005.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Roseau. Interment was held at the Concordia Cemetery in Ross.
Hilda Linna Peterson, the daughter of Anna (Radke) and Fred W. Gross, was born on July 29, 1927 in Roseau, and grew up on a farm in Spruce Township. She attended school in School District No. 51 in Jadis Township. She met Albert Peterson at a barn dance in Ross. They were later married on October 30, 1946. They farmed small grains, dairy cows, and chickens on a farm in Ross. Albert died in 1971. She continued to live on the farm doing many of the chores, until she moved into Roseau in 1975, where she had since lived.
Hilda loved to tell a good story. Whether it was about the hardships and fun of being one of eleven children on a farm in Spruce Township, or later, as the wife of a farmer and mother of eight in Ross Township; and even much later as a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She remembered the details and related them with such enthusiasm, in which her family will treasure as their own. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and decorating her home. She was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Roseau.
She is survived by her children: Ronald (Mary) of Roseau, Shirley Peterson of Roseau, Annette (Ronald) Sletten of Thief River Falls, Allen Peterson of Grand Forks, N.D., Judy Peterson of Thief River Falls, and Deborah (Bradley) Dominick of East Grand Forks; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Gross of Roseau and John (Glorianne) Gross of Aurora, and sisters, Elsie Lindberg of Roseau, Katie (Luverne) Sonsteng of Roseau and Marie Kompelien of Roseau.
