Trail - Charles Pletschett, 88, of Trail, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at First Care Center in Fosston.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, with Rev. Verlyn Strenge officiating. Interment was held at the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Trail.
Charles Pletschett was born September 11, 1917, on the family farm in Trail, the son of Joseph Peter and Elizabeth Marie (Weber) Pletschett. He attended school at a country school in Trail and worked on his family’s farm.
He married Esther Godtland on November 25, 1941, in Plummer. He worked at the Sun Plant in Gonvick for several years and farmed with his son Richard. He lived on the Pletschett homestead his entire life. Esther died on April 29, 1991. He was devoted to his cattle and his land. He was a regular at the Wigner and Bagley Livestock sale barns. He was a sports fan of his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had a candy kiss or candy hug for his grandkids. He loved to visit, tell stories and tell jokes. He had a great memory, remembering everything.
Survivors include his son, Leo (Kay) Pletschett of Gully; daughter, Evon (Gary) Quern of Gonvick; son, Richard (Debbie) Pletschett of Trail; one sister, Ann Peterson of Clearbrook; two sisters-in-law, Tone Schmit of Gully, and Lucille Godtland of Gully; two brothers-in-law, James Godtland of Lengby and Dean (Dianne) Godtland of Gonvick; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, LeRoy “Shorty,” three brothers and one sister.
