Pine River - Linda A. Olson, 58, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at her home on Whitefish Lake after a courageous battle with ALS.
A memorial mass was held on Saturday, November 26 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes.
Linda Ann Lian was born on May 1, 1947, in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Armond and Beverly (Netteland) Lian. She was raised and educated in the area and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Ronald Olson on April 30, 1966, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. After their marriage, they had lived in Minneapolis, Thief River Falls and Golden Valley, before moving to the lakes area in 1972. After moving to this area, Linda had been employed with Kreitz Industries in Pequot Lakes. She later worked for the Pequot Lakes School District, as senior high school secretary.
Linda, with her husband, also owned and operated Iron Hills North Gun and Pawn in Pine River. Linda was active in the lakes area as a member of the Nisswa American Legion Auxiliary, Central Lakes Rotary, a board member of the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway, a member of the Pine River Chamber of Commerce and a former counsel member and religious release teacher at St. Alice Catholic Church. She loved fishing, morning coffee with her friends and most of all, time spent with her grandchildren and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ron; son, Kevin (Robin) of Pequot Lakes; three grandchildren; sisters, Dianne (Jim) Matson of Thief River Falls; Rosemary of Washington; Susan (Ron) of Woodbury; and Nancy (Jeff) Brett of Bloomington; and her brother, Jerry of Tampa.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
