Hastings - Harold A. Birkeland, 76, of Hastings, died at his home on November 9, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held on Monday, November 14, at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hastings.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Architecture, Harold founded Birkeland Architects Inc., and worked for over 40 years primarily designing schools and churches, including work in Plummer, Oklee, Red Lake Falls, Newfolden and Thief River Falls. Harold was a loving, active participant in his family, rarely missing an event and often holding the title of coach. He enjoyed the outdoors and was content to quietly revel in its grandeur.
