 Paynesville - Rev. Lynn Hanson Luthard, 90, formerly of of Thief River Falls, died on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Koronis Manor in Paynesville.
 Funeral services were held on Friday, September 10, at the Paynesville Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Nelson and Jeff Bergman officiating. Interment was held at the Nordland Lutheran Church Cemetery.
 Lynn Hanson Luthard was born on April 10, 1914 in Alexandria, to Pastor Louis T. and Emma Hanson. He was baptized at Bethesda Lutheran Church by his father. After high school in 1932, Lynn attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, graduating in 1939. He legally changed his name at this time and was later ordained as a pastor in Fortuna, N.D.
 Lynn was married to Thelma Elaine Aamodt on May 19, 1942 in Barton Lutheran Church. They lived in Fortuna, N.D., Ada, Clayton Wis., Thief River Falls, Hoffman, Paynesville and Williams, Iowa. He retired in Paynesville in 1979. For the next nine years he worked as an interim and supply pastor in the surrounding area. Throughout their lives, Lynn and Thelma were devoted parents to Lois, Grace and Twila.
 Lynn’s life served as an example of Christ’s love in action. He enjoyed researching Bible history and theology. Lynn had an avid interest in planning and/or singing music for worship. One of his goals was to visit members of the congregation in their homes. He was intensely dedicated to Bible camps, missions, colleges and seminaries.
 Lynn was a loving, caring, gentle, thoughtful and patient man. Reading, writing, stamp collecting, history, geography, genealogy, gardening, languages, conversation and listening to music were some of his favorite activities.
 Survivors include two daughters, Lois (Charles) Anderson of Moorhead and Twila (John) Edmunds of Plymouth; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; one step-brother, Ephraim Evavold of Rushford; one step-sister, Elvina (Leman) Smith of Fargo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Thelma; daughter Grace Moore Meske; two sisters, Evenelle (Arnold) Evavold and Palma Hanson; brother Robert Hanson; step-father, Klaus K. Evavold; one step-brother, Joseph Evavold; two step-sisters, Lillian (Samuel) Saure and Minnie Evavold; three sisters-in-law: Inez Evavold, Agnes (Lyle) Peterson and Amanda (Aurin) Peterson; three brothers-inlaw: Tregve (Mildred) Aamodt, Helmer (Eleanor) Aamodt and Arthur (Alma) Aamodt.
