Thief River Falls - Allan Elmer Swanson, 50, of Thief River Falls, died on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2 at the Bakke Funeral Chapel, Larimore. Interment was held at Elm Grove Church Cemetery, rural McCanna, N.D. Visitation will be one hour before services on Wednesday.
Allan was born in Grand Forks, N.D. on January 25, 1955, the eldest son of Elmer and Vivienne (Gordon) Swanson of rural Niagara, N.D. He spent his childhood on a farm near Niagara, N.D., until the Swanson family moved into Larimore, N.D., where Allan graduated from Larimore High School in 1972. Allan spent most of his adult life working in the Grand Forks area and moved to Thief River Falls, in 1994 to work for Arctic Cat Industries until an illness forced him to stop working in 1997.
Allan loved life and enjoyed traveling the region taking in events and visiting with friends and family, prior to becoming partially disabled in recent years.
He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Sharon Wynn; his mother Vivienne of Larimore; brothers, Jerry (Annie) of Hamilton of Montana; and Jim and Gordon both of Grand Forks, N.D.; two nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his father.
