Yuma, Ariz. - Doris Ilene Fish, 81, of Yuma, Ariz., and formerly of Halma, died at the LMK Audult Care Home in Yuma on Wednesday, September 28, 2005.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 4, at Karlstad Baptist Church in Karlstad, with Pastor David Ingraham officiating. Casket bearers included Kylee Miller, Keri Johnson, Kathy Johnson and Elizabeth Fish. Interment was held at the Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad.
Doris Ilene Fish, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Estella (Strohmeyer) Pearson, was born on October 28, 1923, in Linden, Colo. At the age of 4, she moved with her family to Orleans, Neb., where she attended school and grew to womanhood. Doris graduated from Mascot High School in 1940, then attended beauty school in Hastings, Neb.
On Dec. 17, 1942, Doris was united in marriage to Paul Fish in Oxford, Neb. They farmed in Oxford until 1956, then moved to Halma, to farm. Doris was also involved in the Fish Construction business until retirement in 1985. She was a born again Christian and a member of the Karlstad Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the church teaching Sunday School and directing the choir. She loved to paint and had many other interests. Her favorite Bible verse was Prov. 3: 5-6.
For the past 14 months, the couple has resided at Yuma, Ariz. Doris passed away at the LMK Adult Care Home in Yuma on Wed. morning, Sept. 28, 2005, at the age of 81 years and 11 months.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons, Dennis (Pat) of Halma and Duane of Detroit Lakes; one daughter, Teri (Doug) Johnson of Roseau; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Hazel Peterson of Orleans, Neb., and Alda (Bill) Blincow of Oxford, Neb.; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Charlotte; four brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.
