Crookston - Marvin A. Olofson, 78, formerly of Gatzke, died at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday, September 30, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5 (today), at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, with Pastor Jim Field officiating. Casket bearers included Richard Engelstad, Ronald Engelstad, Rick Larson, Wayne Lunsetter, Howard Lunsetter and Bruce Lunsetter. Interment will be held at Landstad Cemetery in Gatzke.
Marvin A. Olofson, the son of the late Martin and Anna (Magnusen) Olofson, was born on July 7, 1927, in Veldt Township of Marshall County, near Gatzke. He attended school and grew to manhood there, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Marvin was employed by various farmers in the Gatzke area, and later on the Iron Range for several years. He returned to Gatzke for some time, and for the past 18 years, made his home in Crookston.
He is survived by one sister, Mildred (Reuben) Kilbo of Braham; one sister-in-law, Mille Olofson of Chisholm; one brother-in-law, Walter Lunsetter of Gatzke; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, Melvin, Henry, Art, Harold, Herman, Noble, Berger and Palmer; and one sister, Mable Lunsetter. A00003B2005OT05
