Minneapolis - Gregory Duane Hultgren, 45, of Minneapolis and formerly of Karlstad, died on Saturday, September 17, 2005.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 23, at the First Lutheran Church in Karlstad. Interment was held at the Karlstad Cemetery.
Gregory Duane Hultgren was born on September 19, 1959 at the  Karlstad Memorial Hospital in Karlstad, to Duane and Geraldine (Wollin) Hultgren. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at  First Lutheran Church in Karlstad. He attended Karlstad Public School and after briefly living in Roseau, graduated with a G.E.D. diploma from  Roseau Public School in 1977.
In July of 1977, Greg moved to Minneapolis. He became a sheet rock installer and worked in that profession with his partner, Tom Johnson, for about 20 years. On September 30, 1980, Greg married Terri Reimer of Brooklyn Park.  They had one daughter, Krista Marie, born January 7, 1982.  After a number of years, Greg started working for a window manufacturer in South Minneapolis, where he lived with his companion, Lynn Nelson for over 12 years. He was step-father to her son, Dennis, and one of the great joys of his life was being “Grandpa” to Dennis’ little boy, Devin. Greg continued to live and work in the Minneapolis area until the time of his death.
Greg enjoyed music and was rarely without his guitar, entertaining family and friends from a very young age. He was a creative craftsman and enjoyed making and selling woodcrafts as a hobby.  Greg loved fishing, often taking all the kids to the Mississippi River near his home to fish and enjoy the outdoors. Greg was also an avid hunter and enjoyed making his annual visit to  Karlstad to enjoy the hunting season with his brothers each November. His love of nature and the peace he found in his music will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Gregory D. Hultgren is survived by a daughter, Krista Marie of Minneapolis; mother, Geraldine Hultgren of Karlstad; brothers,  Mark Hultgren of Grand Forks, N.D., George Hultgren of Karlstad; Harry (Peggy) Hultgren of Warren; Steven Hultgren of Cottage Grove; sisters, Amy Nelson of Manvel, N.D., Ann Christinson of Strandquist and Elizabeth Hultgren of Montrose; several nieces and nephews; one step-son, Dennis; and one step-grandson; as well as several great aunts and uncles, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Amy Wollin; paternal grandparents, Harry and Alpha Hultgren; and his father Duane K. Hultgren, who died December 5, 1997.
