Thief River Falls - Richard Semrud, 48, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Casket bearers included Troy Weber, Brian Weber, Melvin Clark, Bobby Weber, Ron Dargas and Ron Johnston.
Richard Ray Semrud was born March 11, 1957 at St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Paul, the son of Ray Allen and Margaret (Schoppenhurst) Semrud. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Bloomington and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Farmington. He attended grade school in Farmington and then attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1975. He went on to attend Aviation Technical School and graduated in 1977. He sold Combine Insurance for a year and also worked for Minnko Building Systems and GW and Son Construction both of Grand Forks, N.D.
On May 12, 1984, Richard was united in marriage to Cindy Mathieu at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Richard was a member of the Thief River Falls Hockey Association and City Hockey League. He enjoyed the Viking’s, sports, hockey, hunting, fishing, camping and picking on everyone. He especially loved spending time with his children.
Survivors include daughters, Kristen Knutson-Semrud of Fosston and Meghan of Thief River Falls; son, Ryan of Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; father, Ray of southern Minnesota; brothers and sisters, Margaret (John) Semrud-Clikeman of Austin, Texas, David Wilson Semrud of Fargo, N.D., Karen Marie (Don) Cameron of Moorhead, Laurie Jean Semrud of West Fargo, N.D., and Amy Lee (Keith) Steva of San Jose, Calif.; nine nieces and nephews; one great-nephew and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret; grandparents and sister, Kathryn Peterson.
