Karlstad - Alice Thompson, 88, of Karlstad, died on Tuesday, September 6, at the Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 9, at the Hegland Lutheran Church near Karlstad. Casket bearers included grandchildren, Rick Thompson, Mark Thompson, Michael Wallace, Matt Thompson, Scott Thompson and Brian Thompson. Interment was held at the Hegland Church Cemetery.
Alice Toni Thompson, the daughter of the late Olav and Rubina (Bjorlokken) Eikeland, was born on October 3, 1917, in Roseau County. She attended school and grew to womanhood in the Pencer area of Roseau County, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On May 23, 1936, Alice was united in marriage to Peter H. Thompson in Roseau.
Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Karlstad. Alice was a member of the Hegland Lutheran Church near Karlstad. She worked at Arctic Enterprises for several years and at the former Margaret’s Café doing the baking. She loved gardening and raised cows, chickens, and pigs over the years. She also was the housekeeper for the Thorbus Family at Karlstad for many years. Pete died on July 30, 1995, and Alice continued to make her home in Karlstad.
She is survived by three sons, Roger (Sharon) of Lake Bronson; and Rodney (Jane) and Douglas (Jody), both of Karlstad; two daughters, Vivian Wallace of Coon Rapids, and Valarie (Michael) Fox of Baudette; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, George; and six sisters, Olava, Hannah, Jessie, Mabel, Ruth and Amy.
