 Karlstad - Edna Hanson, 87, of Karlstad, died on Monday, September 5, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Warren.
  Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 10 at the Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad. Casket bearers included Rick Thompson,   Mark Thompson, Cameron Holter, Jeff Holter, Greg Hanson, Brent Hanson and Curt Hanson. Interment was held at the Karlstad Cemetery
 Edna Elta Hanson, the daughter of the late Andrew and Emma (Erickson) Simonson, was born on June 8, 1918, at Hamberg, ND.  She attended school and grew to womanhood there, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  On Sept. 3, 1938, Edna was united in marriage to Theodore Hanson in Bagley. 
 Following their marriage, they made their home in Clearbrook,  where Ted operated a garage for several years. They moved to Gully and in 1951, to Drayton, N.D. In 1963, they moved to Karlstad where they owned and operated Hanson’s Café for 10 years. Ted   died on June 9, 1973, and Edna continued to make her home in Karlstad. 
 She was employed at the former Town & Country Restaurant for several years and also at the former Karlstad Memorial Hospital. Edna was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Karlstad, the Karlstad Eagle’s Auxiliary, and the Karlstad American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed yard work and gardening. For the past three years, Edna has resided at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Warren.
 She is survived by twin daughters, Jean (Carmen) Holter and Jane (Rodney) Thompson, both of Karlstad;  three sons, Ted, Jr., (Claudia), Dick (Ardis), and Kent (Cynthia), all of Karlstad;  nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera (Frank) Risovi of Harvey, N.D., and Viola (Herb) Erdlbrock of New Rockford, N.D.; her special friend of 27 years, Robert Paul Petterson of Karlstad; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
 Edna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters: Blenda Nyhusmoen and Myrtle Bergrud; and 4 brothers: Alvin, Lawrence, Edgar, and Norton.
