 Minneapolis - Melvin LeRoy Skinner, 62, died at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis on Wednesday, October 6, 2004.
  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 10 at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad, with Pastor David Ingraham officiating. Casket bearers include Melvin’s nephews. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Donaldson. Military honors will be provided by the Karlstad American Legion.
 Melvin LeRoy Skinner, the son of the late Searl and Adelia (Franklin) Skinner, was born on March 19, 1942, in Donaldson.   He grew to manhood there, graduating from Kennedy High School in 1960. Melvin worked for Buick in Flint, Mich., prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army in February  1967. Melvin served in Vietnam, and following discharge from the service in 1969, returned to Flint for a short time. 
 He moved to Karlstad when he became ill and, over the years, resided at Ah Gwah Ching in Walker for several years, in the Duluth area, in Hastings, and, most recently, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis    
 He is survived by four brothers, Orville, of Karlstad,  Richard (Judy) of Pembina, N.D.,  Dale (Linda) of Owatonna, and Larry (Mary), of Shelby, Ohio;  three sisters: Marie (Marvin) Johnson of International Falls, Lois (Merlyn) Winters of Lancaster, and Stella (Ervin) Gorsuch of Hallock;  in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
 Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Melford, Kenneth, and Clifford.
