St. Hilaire - Pearl Drees, 89, died on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the CNC unit of the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Father Tim McGee officiating. Honorary casket bearers included all of Pearl’s grandchildren. Interment will follow at the Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire. Pearl Muriel Ortloff was born on August 22, 1915 to Paul and Ada (Olson) Ortloff in Bray Township, Pennington County. She grew up and attended school in St. Hilaire. She was united in marriage to Nickie Drees on January 12, 1931 in Dorothy. The couple lived in St. Hilaire all of their life. They operated the Redwood Inn, also known as Nickie’s in the later years, until their retirement in the early 1970’s. After retirement Pearl did some cooking at the Senior Center in St. Hilaire. Pearl moved into CNC in 2004. Pearl enjoyed ceramics, painting pumpkins, wood carving and cooking. She was awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award of Pennington County in 1990. She was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Pearl is survived by three children, Marlene Ortloff of St. Hilaire, Harley (Barb) Drees of St. Hilaire, Nickie (Deb) Drees of Thief River Falls; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Nickie in 1980. A00003B2005AG17 |
