Thief River Falls - Marie Fjeld, 92, died on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13 (today) at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Interment will be held at Ekelund Cemetery in Highlanding Township in Pennington County.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Johnson Funeral Service on Wednesday.
Marie Fjeld was born on May 2, 1912 in Erie, the daughter of Hans and Ragnihld (Olson) Fjeld. She was baptized and confirmed at Ekelund Lutheran Church and attended country school in Erie and high school in Goodridge.
Marie worked at the telephone office in Goodridge, at a war plant in California during World War II and in Minneapolis for a short time.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and visiting with family and friends.
Marie was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church in Goodridge.
Marie was a resident of the Oakland Park Nursing Home since 1997. She made lasting memories with many of its caring staff.
Marie is survived by one sister, Ida (Fjeld) Frodahl; two sisters-in-law, Esther Fjeld and Willa Prestegaard; nieces and nephews: Melvin’s children, Irene, Beverly and Marlys; Alma’s children, Lorraine, Eunice and Richard; Oscar’s children, Diane and Bonnie; Alvin’s children, Delaine, Renae, Wavell; Ida’s children, LaVonne, Karen, Janice, Judi and Doreen; and many grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry, Otto, Melvin, Oscar and Alvin; sisters, Betsy Molden and Alma Chapman; one nephew, Alvin Chapman; and sister-in-law Gena Fjeld.
