Middle River - Esther, 96, died on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 9, at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, with Pastor Curt Matz and June Young officiating. Casket bearers included Steve Holm, Don Larson, James Kezar, David Gram, Mike Otto and Randy Kezar. Interment was held at First Lutheran Cemetery in Middle River.
Esther Julia Kezar, the daughter of the late Lewis and Julia Dokken, was born on November 27, 1908, in Fosston. She attended school and grew to womanhood in Leonard and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
In January of 1927, Esther was united in marriage to Emil Wallin at Middle River. They made their home in Middle River and later moved to a 160 acre farm on the edge of town. They moved to Florida in 1953 and Emil died July 8, 1957. On April 25, 1966, Esther married Asa Kezar at Tampa, Florida. They spent the summer months in Middle River and the winters in Dover, Fla. Asa died on October 23, 1978, and Esther continued to make her home at Middle River and in Florida. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Middle River and of the Ladies Aid. For the past two years, Esther resided at the Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
She is survived by two daughters, Emilie (Glenn) Morrison of Lake Wales, Fla., and Delores Rudy of Thief River Falls; daughter-in-law, Shirley Wallin of Bloomington; one step-son, James (Janice) Kezar of Thief River Falls; a step-daughter, Karen (Arden) Veralrud of Ottertail; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Esther was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, her parents, one son, Roger; three brothers; four sisters; a step-son, David; and a step-daughter, Barbara. A00003B2005AG10
