 Goodridge - George Panek, 84, died on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
 Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge with a 7 p.m. prayer service and at the church for one hour prior to service Friday. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.johnsonfuneralservice.com.
 Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge,  with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Cemetery, Grand Plain Township, Marshall County. Casket bearers will include Larry Panek, David Panek, Harry Farris, Tim Panek, Mark Panek and Darren Panek. Honorary casket bearers will include all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. American Legion posts in Thief River Falls and Goodridge will complete military honors.
 George Stanley Panek was born on August 12, 1920 in Silverton Township, Pennington County, to Stanley and Frances Kathleen (Kolski) Panek. He attended the Stoney Range Country School until the eighth grade.
 After completing school, he farmed with his dad.  George entered the Army in 1942 serving during World War II. He was stationed in Africa and Italy, where he was a wire communications worker.  He was honorably discharged in 1945. George returned to farm with his dad.
 He was united in marriage to Patricia Allen Nelson on September 21, 1952 at Telemarken Lutheran Church and moved to Grand Plain Township, Marshall County. George farmed many different things, including goats, horses, sheep, grains, chickens, milk cows, beef cows, ducks, rabbits, pigs and one raccoon named “Tuffy.” They farmed three quarters of land for many years. George retired from farming in 1977 and then began working for many different neighbors helping on their farms. He also worked for the ASCS office checking land that was in the soil bank.
 George was active in many different organizations, including the Silverton Township Board, Grand Plain Township Board, Marshall County Commission, Faith Lutheran Church Council and Cenex Coop Board.  He also liked to deer hunt. He was a member of the American Legion Post 117.
 George is survived by his wife, Patricia, Goodridge; six children:  Larry (Laurie), Thief River Falls; David (Mylisa), Charlotte, Tenn.; Debbi (Harry) Farris, Goodridge; Tim (Tawnya), Newfolden; Mark, Thief River Falls; and Darren, Thief River Falls; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers: Henry (Marjorie), Goodridge; Norman (Evelyn), Surprise, Ariz.; Robert (Doris), Apache Junction, Ariz.; Stanley (Arlene), Goodridge; and one sister: Delores (Henry) Bendickson, Goodridge.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Sharon Panek; and one great-granddaughter, Madyson Panek.
