Aitkin - Mervyn L. Clausen, 66, of Aitkin and formerly of Grygla, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, at St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin, with Fr. Paul Fruth officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Mervyn was born December 15, 1938 in Radium, to Emil and Herren (Hunstad) Clausen. As a child he grew up in Grygla and graduated from Crookston Agriculture School. On August 13, 1960, in Minneapolis, Mervyn was united in marriage to Mae Mootz. He was owner of M.L. Clausen Construction of Mounds View, working as a cement contractor. They lived in Mounds View and Brooklyn Park prior to moving to their lake home near Aitkin in 1996. They spent their winters in Rockport, Texas.
Mervyn is survived by his wife Mae (Mootz) Clausen; three children, Mitchell (Linda) of Colorado, Susan (Mark) Quaas of Andover and Cindy (Kelly) Anderson of Ramsey; four grandchildren; his mother, Herrean of Thief River Falls; sister, Janice Thief of East Grand Forks; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll and father, Emil.
