Crookston - Anastasia “Nettie” Kroll, 71, of Crookston, died Thursday morning, June 30, 2005, at the Riverview Care Center in Crookston.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 6 (today), in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with  Rev. Bob Schreiner, presiding. A graveside service was held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Stephen.
Nettie was born in Grafton, N.D. on November 23, 1933, the daughter of Roman and Bernice (Kaliszewski) Kroll. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and moved with her family to Stephen, in the early 1940’s. After graduating from Stephen High School Nettie went on to receive her teacher’s certificate from the Normal School in Warren.
She then taught for three years in a one-room country school near Stephen. In order to further her education Nettie enrolled at Moorhead (MN) State Teachers’ College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1956. She then moved to Crookston and taught third grade in the Crookston Public School System for 25 years. In 1981, because of ill health, she reluctantly retired from the career she enjoyed so much. Nettie had always shared a home with her sister, Delores, who very lovingly took care of her until Nettie moved to the Riverview Nursing Home on March 21, 2001.
She was a longtime member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and professionally held membership in the National Education Association, the Minnesota Education Association, and the Crookston Education Association.
She enjoyed crafting, and examples of her cross-stitching and crewel-work can be found in the homes of many acquaintances. Nettie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Delores Kroll of                                Crookston; five nieces and one nephew; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Roman Kostrzewski. A00003B2005JL06
