Roseau - Marlyce Kompelien, 64, died on June 8, 2005, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services for Marlyce Kompelien were held on Monday, June 13, at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau.
Marlyce Kompelien, the daughter of Leonard and Edna (Srigfred) Block was born on March 25, 1941 in Morton.
Marlyce grew up in Morton, graduating from Morton High School in 1959. She and Albert Kompelien were united in marriage on January 13, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton. They moved to Roseau in 1972, where Albert worked at Polaris. Marlyce worked at home raising her children. She also worked at the Children’s Home in Roseau, doing laundry, did homecare for a few years, worked at Marvin’s in Warroad and in recent years worked at Lee’s Place.
Marlyce was a craft fanatic and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a Twins baseball fan and loved watching sports in her spare time. Most of all, she loved being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her five children; daughter, Susan (“Buzz” Sylvester) Hemp of Roseau, daughter, Shirley Kompelien of Thief River Falls, son Scott (Jodi) Kompelien of Toxstoi, Manitoba, son Wayne (Michelle) Kompelien of Estherville, Iowa, and Darla Swanson of Thief River Falls; and 18 grandchildren.
Marlyce is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Edna; husband, Albert and one grandson.
