Bishop, Calif. - Mae E. Nicholson died June 3, 2005 at her home in Bishop, Calif., near the skiing slopes off Mammoth, where she loved to down hill ski until after she was 80 years old.
Her memorial services were held in Bishop, Calif., on June 7, with all her loved ones with her.
Mae was born November 24, 1921, in Fargo, N.D., to Charles and Edna (Bunker) Wilson. She spent her first years in Minneapolis and her high school years in Thief River Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. She married Earl S. Nicholson in 1942 and they lived in California.
Mae loved to water ski, down hill ski, dance, she was a great knitter and poker player.
Mae was a school secretary for 22 years.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Richard (Marilyn) Nicholson of Bishop, Calif.; her daughter, Darla (Jon) of North Pole, Alaska; six grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; dozens of foster grandchildren she cared for through out her life; a sister Joyce (Gene) Gunstenson of Marble Falls, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Wilson of Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her brother Dale of Calif. and her brother Irvin J. Wilson of Thief River Falls ; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
