Mankato - Roy W. Peterson, 83, died on Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 16, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel in St. Cloud, with Rev. Alfred Stangl officiating. Interment was held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Thursday, June 16. Roy was born on March 31, 1922 in Viking to Charlie and Hilda (Sustad) Peterson. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Mary Hoffman on December 24, 1945 in St. Paul. He was employed as a carpenter in Home Improvement in the Mankato Area until retiring. Roy was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Mankato.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Darryl J. Peterson of Richfield; and daughter, Gwen (David) Stavena of Mankato; three grandchildren; and one brother, Gerald (Thelma) Peterson of Thief River Falls.
Roy was preceded in death by his son, Charles J. Peterson and four brothers, Lenold, Herbert, Willard and his twin brother, Ray.
