Fosston - Violette “Vi” Kroening, 82, of Fosston, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 18 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston.
Violette Adeline Amberson was born on February 26, 1923 in rural Fosston, to parents Carl and Hannah (Fjerstad) Amberson. Violette attended rural school and graduated from Fosston High School in 1941. While in school, Violette enjoyed playing the piano and the clarinet.
Violette was united in marriage to Roy G. Kroening on September 23, 1944 at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston. They resided in Sletten Township, raised five children and farmed until 1988 when they moved into a new home in Fosston, which was built by their children. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church and was a long-time member of the First English Lutheran Church in Fosston. Violette and Roy later became members of Hope Lutheran Church.
She was involved in church activities her entire life. Violette enjoyed working at the Polk County Fairs and served many years of service on the Intercounty Community Council Board.
Violette’s many hobbies were gardening, baking apple pies, playing cards and making colorful quilts.
Violette loved being around family and friends. She enjoyed showing her many friends and family her garden and many quilts.
Violette is survived by her children, Richard (Julie) of Fosston, Karen (Rob) of Bemidji, Dr. Judy Olson (Duane G.) of Fosston, Jack (Faye) of Bemidji, Gary (Dawn) of Bemidji; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents; brother, Clifford; and twin infant brother and sister.
