Karlstad - Anita Louise Westling, 69, Karlstad, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, surrounded by her family.
Anita was born June 19, 1944 in Thief River Falls, to George and Amy (Brekke) Wollin. She grew to womanhood in Karlstad graduating from Karlstad High School in 1962. Anita was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. On Feb. 6, 1965, she was united in marriage to Carl E. Westling Jr., at Augustana Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Anita worked in advertising and accounting while living in Minneapolis.
In 1976, Anita, Carl and children, moved to Karlstad. Anita worked for Frank Seitzinger Storage for several years. She returned to college and graduated with her RN nursing degree in 1986. She also earned her Social Work degree in 1997 and worked for Roseau County Social Services for one year.
Anita worked as a nurse for 28 years at many locations including Thief River Falls, Hallock, Roseau and Warren. Anita “officially” retired from nursing in June of 2013. Anita was a dedicated EMT with the Karlstad Rescue Squad for nine years, and operated Westling Tax Service for 36 years. She was a First Lutheran Church Council Member, and very involved in her community. One of her loves was baking for family and many others.
Loving family members of Anita include sons Chadwick, Jonathan (Julie), Jamison and daughter Jennifer (Gregory) Olson; nine grandchildren: Jarod, Joshua, Breanna, Joel, Kaitlynn, Tayler, Aaron, Kylie, and Lynsie; brothers: Russell (Grace) Wollin, David (Tove) Wollin; sisters: Geraldine Hultgren, Margaret Klug, Lola (Michael) Underdahl, Sister-in-law Gine Wollin and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was proceeded in death by her parents George and Amy Wollin; husband Carl brother James Wollin; brothers-in-law Severin Klug, Duane Hultgren; and nephew Gregory Hultgren.
