Fertile - Steven Lee Josephson, 60, of Fertile, formerly of Thief River Falls and Warroad, died at his home on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, after a long struggle with cancer.
A memorial service was held Friday, May 30 at the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile.
Steven was born on June 29, 1953, to Lynn and Diana (Ellingson) in Superior, Wis.  His family moved to California in 1955, and, as a junior in high school, he returned to Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1971.  Steve attended AVTI at Thief River Falls for Aviation, graduating in 1974.
Steve was married to Donna Gagner in Terrebonne. Their daughter, Sheri, was born in Thief River Falls, prior to moving to Memphis, Ark., where Steve worked in aviation mechanics. They returned to Thief River Falls in the mid-1970s, and Steve worked as an aviation tech for Arctic Cat Enterprise and the FBO.  Their son, Kelly, was born in 1979, in Thief River Falls.  In the late 1980s, Steve opened Thief River Aviation, continuing to repair and rebuild airplanes.
After selling the business, Steve went back to college where he received an associate’s degree in business.  He worked with his mother (as her right hand man) at the Evergreen Eating Emporium.  Over the years, Steve did contract work and was hired full-time in 1996, to oversee the Marvin Window company’s Aviation Department in Warroad.
Steve also continued maintaining and repairing aircrafts on his own for private aircraft owners. He continued his education while in Warroad receiving his Bachelors Degree in Business Management Systems. Steve was united in marriage to Sharon Edlund on May 23, 2009, at their home in Fertile, also bringing Sharon’s daughter, Danielle Edlund, into the family.  Steve began working as a “farm-assist” for Fuch’s Farms for the past few years.
As a lifelong member, Steve served as a past president for the Northriders Motorcycle Club, where he was known as “Wingnut.”  Steve’s goal was to ride his motorcycle to all 50 states and was able to make it to 48, a feat he was proud to attain. Hobbies that Steve enjoyed were model trains, planes, and motorcycles, as well as putting his personal touch on the homes he lived in. His family will remember him as a wonderful and kind husband, father and grandfather.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sharon, Fertile; one daughter, Sherry (Mark) Borsheim (Gavin and Mya), Lakewood, New York; one son, Kelly (Denise), Inver Grove Heights; step-daughter, Danielle Edlund, (Madilyn Abrams), Crookston; three grandchildren; his mother, Diana Josephson, Thief River Falls; one brother, Matthew Josephson of Thief River Falls; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
