Audrey Elizabeth Johnson was born December 9, 1918, in Grygla, the daughter of Severin and Christine (Sundelin) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Grygla.  She grew up and attended country school in District 89 North.
Audrey stayed at home on the family farm. At the age of 13, Audrey’s mother, Christine passed away leaving the household responsibilities to her and her sister, Gail. Later, she worked at the Mint Café while living in Thief River Falls. In later years, Audrey worked at Arctic Cat for 13 years, but in the interim she worked in the potato fields. Never having children of her own, Audrey enjoyed providing daycare for her family, often living in their homes. She loved each child as her own.  Audrey was often an honored guest at the weddings of her nieces and nephews.
Audrey became a member Grace Lutheran Church in 1960, where she was active in the ladies activities of bible study, quilting, and ladies aid.  She was an early member of the Lull-a-While Homemakers Club in Grygla. Audrey enjoyed sewing – always using a pattern. As a talented seamstress, she could re-make adult clothing into children’s outfits. She also enjoyed photography, compiling many albums with labels.  Whenever there was a special occasion, Audrey had her camera ready, but she never wanted her own picture taken. She also took slides and movies of family events.
Audrey and her sister, Gail had a special bond.  Throughout their lives they spent many days together doing household tasks and just enjoying each other’s company. When Audrey could no longer live on her own in 2006, she moved in with Gail. In 2011 Audrey and Gail moved to Valley Home and later to the Thief River Care Center where Audrey still resided.
