Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at his residence in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 9 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, with Father Andrew Obel. Interment was held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Morris LeRoy Halvorson was born on March 6, 1944 in Roseau, the son of Taylor and Edith (Lindgren) Halvorson. He graduated from Roseau High School in 1962.
Following high school Morris served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge Morris was married to Marie Schell in Roseau.
Morris started working for the United States Postal Service in Roseau and later transferred to Thief River Falls. In September 1976 Morris and Carolyn Svoboda were married. For 25 years he delivered mail and retired in 1999.
Morris was affectionately known as “Morrie All Sport” by everyone in Roseau. He had a love for all sports – even setting an alarm to wake up early in the morning to watch various sports in different countries. Morris also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and visiting.
Morris is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn of Thief River Falls; children: Karen Wengeler and her children Logan, Mason, Nolan, Olivia, and baby soon to be born; Nikki (Joseph) Peters and their children, Jenna, Halle, Jett, and Skye; Eric Halvorson; Anne (Rafael) Fuentes and their children, Annyssa and Shayla; brothers, James (Sandy) Halvorson and Thomas Halvorson both of Roseau; sister-in-law, Mary Halvorson of Roseau, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert and his granddaughter, Maizy.
