Thief River Falls - Verna Kaisler, 95, Thief River Falls, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, with her loving son at her side.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Voelker officiating. Casket bearers include Blaine Solheim, Arik Solheim, Samuel Kezar, Kirk Thorstenson, Kip Thorstenson and Kurt Kaisler. Honorary casket bearers include Verna’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandson.  Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Verna Harriet Sagmoen was born on Sept. 14, 1918 on the family farm near Rosewood, the daughter of John and Hilda (Carlson) Sagmoen. She was baptized and confirmed at Rindahl Lutheran Church in New Solum Township, Marshall County. Verna attended the Rosebank Country School near Rosewood and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
Following high school, Verna was united in marriage to Edward Wilhelm Solheim. From this union, two sons, James E. Solheim was born on May 16, 1939 and Rollin G. Solheim was born on May 24, 1942 and they grew to adulthood in Thief River Falls.
On June 21, 1953, Verna was united in marriage to Dr. W.P. Kaisler in Duluth.  They made their home in Thief River Falls. Dr. Kaisler owned and operated Dr. W.P. Kaisler, DOC (Doctor of Chiropractic) and Verna was his receptionist.  They continued to operate their chiropractic business until 1977 and continued to live in Thief River Falls.
They were both members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, and sang in the choir, and Verna was active in the Ladies Aid. 
Verna enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, was a Girl Scout leader and loved working with flowers and gardening, and was excellent at cooking and baking.  She loved entertaining and having her kids and grandkids around.
Survivors include her loving son, Ron (Sharon) Solheim of Dalton, MN; daughter, Jill Kezar of Crookston; stepson, Rod (Joanne) Kaisler of Boise, Idaho; stepdaughter, Ardith Lewon of Surprise, Ariz.; grandchildren, Blaine (Sharon) Solheim of Fergus Falls, Arik (Lori) Solheim of Hatton, N.D., Heidi (Kirk) Thorstenson of Argyle, Samuel (Crystal) Kezar of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kimberly Kaisler of Boise, Idaho, Kurt (Suellen) Kaisler of Denver, Colo., Sara (Doug) Berg of Boise, Idaho, Christian Lewon of New York City, N.Y., Tony Lewon of Albuquerque, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Brooke, Brittany, Jenna, Ethan, Hannah, Kip, Ian, Lily, James, Annalise, Anastasia; great-great grandson, Wyatt; niece, Marlys Gobell of Bradenton, FL; nephew, Lon (Joyce) Gobell of Park Rapids, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter P. Kaisler on Aug. 21, 1998; son, James Solheim on Aug. 8, 2012; son-in-law, Wilhelm Lewon; sister, Gladys (Art) Gobell; brother, Glenn Sagmoen; and her parents.
