Bayard, Neb. - Arthur Wallace Taylor, the son of Alexander and Sophia (Hutton) Taylor, was born on Jan. 19, 1929 near Grygla in the Espelie Township. He passed away on March 15, 2014 at the Chimney Rock Villa at Bayard, Neb., at the age of 85 years, 1 months, 24 days.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, Nebraska with Rev. Kenneth Taylor officiating. Casket bearers in Superior include David Cordel, Terry Snyder, David Johnson, Alfred Hanson, Shawn Claflin and Larry Simpkins. Casket bearers in Thief River Falls include Alan Paggan, Roger Skime, Don Joppru. Rocky Joppru, Dean Joppru and Shawn Claflin. Honorary pallbearers are Spider Hiatt and John Price Sr. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Arthur was united in marriage to Margaret Joppru on February 17, 1951 at Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He lived in the communities of Grygla, Goodridge, Thief River Falls, Babbitt, Mentor, Warren all in Minnesota and Riverton and Kearney, Nebraska retiring in Superior, Nebraska. He was a former councilman and county extension board member in Mentor, Minnesota, was a former member of the Minnesota Area Vocational Technical School Advisory Board in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, the Green Thumb Board in Mentor and President of Life Incorporated for four years and vice president for one year. He was also a member of the Superior Lions Club and the Jewell Assembly of God.
He is survived by his children, Wallace Taylor of Fargo, North Dakota, Rev. Kenneth Taylor and wife Naomi of Algoma, Wisconsin and daughter Carol Snyder and husband Terry of Bayard, Nebraska. Nine grandchildren, Melissa Snyder, Justin Snyder, Amber Newby, Lauri Smith, Jeremy Taylor, Matthew Taylor and his wife Cheyenne, Shawn Claflin and his wife Misty. Three great-grandchildren, Cruise Smith, Brooklyn Smith and Caden Taylor along with a host of many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret on June 18, 1997, six brothers, Melville, Lloyd, John, Clarence Elmer, Clarence and Allen and four sisters, Ethel Magnusson, Inez Wiseth, Grace Tweeten and Lila Haristo.
