Daytona Beach, Fla. - LaRue Johnson, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at her home in Daytona Beach, Fla.
LaRue, daughter of George and Ruth Fricker, was born Oct. 5, 1936. She attended school at Holt, and graduated from Newfolden High School and Hamline University with a nursing degree.
She married Gerald Johnson. They spent time with the U.S. Army in Germany. They returned to Waukegan, Ill., for 10 years.
The family lived in Smiley Township from 1970 to 2005. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church with her family. LaRue worked at the Pennington County Nursing Service until they moved to Florida, spending summers near St. Cloud, Minn.
LaRue is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Gerald; one daughter, Tami, of Bloomington; two sons, Bruce and Kris, both of Florida; daughter-in-law, Kay. A son, Michael, preceded her in death.
Other survivors include four grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Melissa and Megan Johnson. Also, a brother, George (Avis) Fricker and family; a brother-in-law, Richard (Gail) and family of Texas; a sister-in-law Arlene (Bob) Prestebak, Thief River Falls, and family.
LaRue will be missed by many relatives and friends. She made friends everywhere she lived. Blessed be her memory.
