Red Lake Falls - Irene Larson, 83, Red Lake Falls, died on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Country Manor Nursing Home, Sartell,  with her daughter and family at her bedside.
Mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Feb. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, with Father Chuck Huck officiating. Interment was held at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Irene Amelia Larson was born Aug. 25, 1930 in Grafton, N.D. daughter of the late Joseph J. and Helen (Silewski) Wysoski. She graduated from Minto High School in 1948.
Irene was united in marriage to L.W. Larson on July 2, 1960 in Red Lake Falls. They lived in various places while L.W. served in the U.S. Navy and after his retirement in 1968, they settled in Thief River Falls. They permanently moved to Red Lake Falls, in 1972 and resided there until 2012. They had two children: David Raymond, born in Thief River Falls on March 14, 1961, and Diane Marie, born in Mountain View, CA, on Nov. 7, 1962.
Irene worked as Department Head of Fashions and Manager of the Catalog department for Montgomery Wards in Thief River Falls, she was Secretary and Acting Manager for Nides Finance Company in Thief River Falls, and she was an Avon Representative in Thief River Falls and Red Lake Falls for 25 years.
Irene enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing cards, golf, bowling, curling, playing bingo and cooking. In her later years, she especially enjoyed the yearly trips she and L.W. took to Arizona and Nevada. Her biggest pastime in the later years was attending the casino whenever she got the opportunity. She loved the slots and playing Keno. She also took great pride in her yard and flower gardens, and loved to decorate for Christmas each year.
Family was most important to Irene. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a strong woman who had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed.
Irene belonged to the St. Joseph Church Cemetery Board, the Ladies Guild, and was a lector there. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary where she was President in 1976-77 and Membership Chairman for many years of which she took great pride. She belonged to the Hillcrest Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, FRA Auxiliary, St. Cecelia Court, and the Armed Forces Top Enlisted Assoc.
Irene is survived by her daughter Diane (Doug) Roob of Sartell; daughter-in-law Bernadette Larson of Warroad, four grandchildren Joseph (Andrea) Larson of Warroad, Justin Roob of Sartell, Annette Larson of Bemidji, and Jordan Roob of Sartell; one great-grandchild, William David Wayne Larson of Warroad. Siblings Jane Zidon of Pisek, N.D., Terry (Richard) Moen of Park Rapids, Joseph (Sue) Wysoski of Fargo, N.D., and Jim (Nancy) Wysoski of Mesa, Ariz.; brother-in-law Dennis Larson of Eagle, Wis., and sisters-in-law Dede Larson of Thief River Falls, and Janie Hipsher of Fisher; Uncle Ray Sevigny of Grand Forks, N.D. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death most recently by her son David Larson; husband L.W. Larson; infant daughter, her mother and father, brother Raymond; her grandparents; and in-laws: Harold (Joe) and Gladys Larson.
