Duluth - Albert “Al” Lorn Walker, 83, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Eligius Health Center.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, Duluth.
Al was born in Red Lake Falls, on Aug. 19, 1930 to Charles and Ruth (DeBoard) Walker. He married Jeanette “Jean” Srnsky on Dec. 27, 1948 in Thief River Falls. Al worked at various jobs throughout his life, mostly as a truck driver, but also as a mechanic and in the mines on the Iron Range for 10 years. Al was an avid fisherman and deer hunter but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Al is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Stephen (Nancy) Walker of Duluth, Daniel (Jeanne) Walker of Winner, S.D., and daughter Laurie (Paul) Zolondek of Duluth; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice (Richard) Srnsky of Zimmerman, Dorothy Meyer of Mora, Kitty (Ron) Kenisten of Zimmerman, Dolly (Ray) Siggeman of Lake Villa, Ill., Elaine Huard of Rockford, Ill., Lois (Carl) Birdsong of Salinas, CA and two daughters-in-law, Beverly Walker of Duluth and Lin Walker of Sartell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother LeRoy; sisters Violet Erdmenn and Jeanette Harron; son Gary and grandson Ronnie Walker.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Eligius and St. Luke’s Hospice for the care they provided Al.
