Thief River Falls - Gerald Haugen, 79, of Thief River Falls, died on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services will be held at 11: a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, with Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at Johnson Funeral Service on Thursday.
Gerald “Jerry” Milo Haugen was born in Newfolden, on Jan. 16, 1935, son of the late Gust and Pearl (Goplin) Haugen. Jerry attended Washington Elementary School in Thief River Falls.
Jerry lived at home with his parents until their passing. He lived at various group homes in Thief River Falls and attended the ODC where he made many friends. In 2005, he moved to REM Homes in Crookston, and was involved in the ADC there where he was very well liked and made many more friends.
Jerry’s passion was cooking and making his special hot dish for family and friends.
Jerry was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Jerry is survived by his siblings, Jack (Carol) Haugen of Brooklyn Park, James (Dianne) Haugen of Grand Forks, ND, and Laurie (Darrell) Rude of Duluth; nephews and nieces, Wade (Brenda) Haugen, Greg (Tammy) Haugen, Kyle Rude, Kelly (Gracia) Haugen, Tris Rude, Kevin (Janet) Haugen, Brett Rude, Doug (Susie) Haugen, Lita (Clay) Gleason, and Jana Krause, and many cousins, relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Thomas Haugen; many uncles, aunts and cousins.
