Mission, Texas - Mary Kathleen Jensen, formerly of Thief River Falls, passed away at home in Mission, Texas, with family members by her side on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. She was 71 years old.
A memorial service was held at Enchanted Valley Ranch in Mission, Texas on Monday, Jan. 6. A memorial service will be held in Thief River Falls at a later date.
Mary was born on Sept.1, 1942 in Thief River Falls, to Robert and Bernice Looker. She was a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Mary worked at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls for 1½ years.
Mary continued her education at Bemidji State University for two years, until illness forced her to leave. She then attended Aacker’s Business College in Grand Forks, N.D., and graduated with a business degree in 1966.
Mary moved to Seattle, Wash., and was in the accounting departments at DoAll Northwest Co. and Carroll Mortgage Co. Before retiring in 1994, Mary worked at First Interstate Bank of Washington for 25 years, where the last 13 years she was an internal control and operations support officer, real estate services.
Mary married Earl Jensen on Aug. 14, 1987 in Beaverton, Ore. Mary and Earl moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1995 and became residents of Enchanted Valley Ranch retirement community. Mary worked part-time at Martin Valley Ranch Golf Course from 1998 until 2011. Earl passed away on Feb. 22, 2002.
Mary enjoyed traveling and she was able to see the sights of Germany, Baltic and Mediterranean cruises, Australia, and New Zealand plus various places across the United States.
Survivors include her mother, Bernice Looker of Thief River Falls; sisters Susan (Jim) Engelstad of Fargo, N.D.; Roberta Looker, Ruth Olson, both of Thief River Falls, and Nancy (Paul) Boerboom, Hartford, S.D. and two brothers Jon (Junell) Looker, and Mike (Karen) Looker of Thief River Falls, plus many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jensen, her father, Robert Looker and her aunt, Norma Jean Looker.
