Goodridge - Monna Marquis Solberg, 50, died on Monday, May 30, 2005 at her home in rural Goodridge.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 4, at Ekelund Lutheran Church in rural Goodridge, with Rev. Robert Dahlen, officiating. Casket bearers included Matt Stein, Dusty Marquis, Ben Marquis, Bryce Marquis, Kristian Solberg, David Halsa and Mckay Stein. Interment was held at Ekelund Cemetery in rural Goodridge.
Monna Le Marquis was born August 22, 1954 the daughter of Earl George and Angie O. (Race) Marquis in Thief River Falls. She was baptized and confirmed in Grygla. She attended grade school in Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1972. Monna then attended Northland Community College for two years and transferred to Bemidji State University, where she graduated with an elementary education degree.
On November 15, 1975 she was united in marriage to Brian Richard Solberg at Ekelund Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Thief River Falls from 1975 to 1978, when they moved to their present home in Goodridge in 1978. Monna worked intermittently as a teacher in Red Lake Falls and Plummer, for a few years. She then became a substitute teacher.
Monna was a member of Ekelund Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Minnesota Teachers Association. She enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, flowers, gardening, dancing, quilting and riding horses. She spent a lot of time baking with her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her husband, Brian of Goodridge; son, Jared of Thief River Falls; parents, Earl and Angie Marquis of Goodridge; three sisters, Lemay (Alec) Moe of Thief River Falls, “Monica” (Jim) Roach of Goodridge and Marla (Mike) Stein of New Hope; three brothers, Monte Marquis of Rollag, Meade (Vickie Halsa) Marquis of Thief River Falls and Earl (Penny) Marquis Jr. of Goodridge; father and mother-in-law, Chester and Ordell Solberg of Goodridge; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Diane) Solberg of Goodridge and Paul (Sue) Solberg of Elk River; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her brother-in-law, David. A00003B2005JN08
