Williams - Robert J. Nelson, 77, of Williams, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on June 1, 2005 at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 4, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Iron, with Rev. Fr. John O’Donnell officiating. Interment was held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Robert was born on May 6, 1928, to Oscar and Faythe (Warner) Nelson in Duluth. In 1932, he moved to Thief River Falls where he graduated from Lincoln High School. Following high school, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for two years. Robert attended the College of St. John’s and the University of Minnesota. In 1957, he moved to Mt. Iron, where he became an electrician. He was a 50-year member of IBEW, retiring at the age of 62. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his brother, William Nelson of Mt. Iron; his aunt, Mary Warner Dryden of Dayton, Ohio; one niece and four cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents. A00003B2005JN08
