Goldsboro, N.C. - LaVern Stewart Syverson, 71, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 22 at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating. Interment was held at the church cemetery.
Vern was born in Bagley on March 22, 1942 to the late Carl Syverson and Clara Anderson Gulbranson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and had worked with A.P. Parts. Following his retirement Vern became known as the community handyman. Vern attended Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Vern is survived by his wife, Diane Syverson; sons, Ronnie Syverson and wife Tammy of Goldsboro and Mike Syverson and wife Alison of Pikeville; grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, and Gavin Syverson, and also Mary-Catherine Talton and husband Bryan, Anna Bass and husband Andrew, Matthew Davis; a great-grandchild, Ella-Rose Talton; and a brother, Warren Syverson and wife Margaret of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Syverson; sister, Janet Mathinson; and a daughter-in-law Melanie Syverson.
