Oklee - Eva L. Charest, 92, died on Friday, June 3, 2005 at St. Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, with Father John Kleinwachter officiating. Casket bearers included Charles Bachand, David Bachand, Deb Whalen, Deb Sherman, Norman Nelson and Neil Mattison.
Interment was held at the St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.
Eva Leonide Charest was born June 11, 1912, the daughter of the late George Sr. and Olivine (Paquin) Charest in Lambert township, Oklee. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee. She attended Lambert Township School and graduated from Oklee High School.
She was raised south of Oklee where she lived her life until moving into Oklee in the later years. Eva attended Normal Training and taught in several country schools. In 2003 Eva entered the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center and December 2003, moved to the Valley Home in Thief River Falls and on last Thursday moved to the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.
Eva was very active in her church and church circle and was a member of St. Ann’s Society. She enjoyed her family and friends and her church. Eva liked to play cards and drive around in her car.
She is survived by her sister, Alvina Fischbach of Monticello; and many nieces and nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eugenie Dupont, Valada Tessier, Sr. Anne Eucharia OSB, Sr. Marion Zita OSB, Sr. Flore Borgia OSB, Rose Perreault, Ida Charest and Louise Lefebvre; and brothers, George Jr., Walter and Theophile.
