Park Rapids - Robin “Rob” Naplin, 64, of Park Rapids, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at his home.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. A visitation will be held on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services. Pastor Stephen Norby will officiate.
Robin “Rob” Lee Naplin was born on April 25, 1949 to Edgar and Margaret (Strandell) Naplin in Albert Lea, and grew up in St. Hilaire. He graduated from Thief River High School. He attended the University of Minnesota in St. Paul; graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management in 1971. Rob began his long career with the Minnesota Department of Natural Recourses (DNR) soon after graduation. He served as Area Wildlife Supervisor in Willmar and Park Rapids. He was united in marriage to Linda L. Johnson on June 17, 1978 in South St. Paul.
Rob was very active in many conservation organizations and he received many awards recognizing his contributions from the Minnesota DNR, Minnesota Chapter of the Wildlife Society, and the Minnesota Fish and Wildlife Employees Association. Rob enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Linda L. Naplin of Park Rapids; his brother Charles (Sharon) Naplin of Thief River Falls; his brother-in-law Bill Johnson of South St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Pam Naplin and Judy Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Margaret; and two brothers David and Mark.
Memorials preferred to the Minnesota Waterfowl Association; Ruffed Grouse Society; Minnesota Prairie Chicken Society; Minnesota Sharptailed Grouse Society; The Nature Conservatory; or other hunting/conservation organizations of your choice.
