Thief River Falls - Janet Heieren, 84, Thief River Falls, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9,  at Abundant Life Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls,  with Pastor LeRoy Flickinger officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Abundant Life Lutheran Church.
Ruth Janet Heieren was born on June 27, 1929 on the family farm, in Silverton Township, Pennington County, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Fosholm) Heieren. She was baptized at Silverton Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. 
Janet attended school in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946.
Janet had numerous jobs in Thief River Falls, including Ben Franklin, L. B. Hartz, Bratrud Clinic, Pennington Soil and Water for 15 years and USDA-SCS Agency for 34 years, retiring in 1988 from USDA.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers and watching things grow. Janet was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Thief River Falls, the Garden Club and the Horticulture Society.
Survivors include John Peterson, James Peterson, and Joel Peterson, the children of her sister A. Kathryn Peterson; sister-in-law, Audrey Heieren; Audrey’s children Becky Heieren, Dan Heieren, David Heieren and Emily (Heieren) Meyer; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, A. Kathryn Peterson; and brothers, Orville Heieren and Emil Heieren.
