Thief River Falls - Zoe Ann Helle, 72 Thief River Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at the Auburn Home in Waconia with her family at her side.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. Rob Kopp officiating. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Zoe Ann was born on Jan. 7, 1941 in Elko, Nev., the daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth Dill. Her father Herbert Dill, was a recognized DNR wildlife refuge manager. Zoe Ann was well-traveled throughout her childhood years. She experienced living in Nevada, Missouri, South Dakota and Minnesota. The family lived on all those interesting refuges and Zoe Ann made lifetime friends through the years.
Zoe Ann graduated from Newfolden High School in 1958 and earned a degree in Cosmetology at Northland College in 1959. Zoe Ann married Daniel Helle on April 20, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls. Dan and Zoe Ann raised their three children in Thief River Falls and remained there throughout their lives.
Zoe Ann was an avid reader and loved to sew. She made beautiful quilts and charming dresses for her granddaughters. She was a faithful member of the Ruth Circle at the United Methodist Church of which they were members. Her blueberry pie was prize winning and she mastered the art of making KLUB.
Zoe Ann was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Elizabeth Dill; son Michael Helle.
Zoe Ann is survived by her loving family; husband of 53 years Daniel Helle; sons Stephen (Dawn) Helle of Waconia, Christopher (Linette) Helle of Waconia; grandchildren Taylor and Ali Helle, Darek and Katie Flaten, Ariana Nelson-Klug; sisters and brothers-in-law Donna and Joe Kuda of St. Louis, Mo., Pat and Roger Kirmeier of St. Cloud; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jodi Dill of Zimmerman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gerald and Imogene Helle of Thief River Falls, Harvey Helle of Thief River Falls, Alice Thune of Thief River Falls; Nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
