Thief River Falls - Kimberly Hintz, Thief River Falls, lost her battle with cancer with her family by her side on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at the age of 37.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Interment was held at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Kimberly Dawn (Van de Streek) Hintz was born on Sept. 3, 1976 at the Naval Regional Medical Center, North Charleston, S.C., the daughter of Alan Van de Streek and Gail (Bergerson) Van de Streek.  She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on Nov. 27, 1976 in Gully, at the home of her uncle and aunt, Lloyd and Linda Godtland and confirmed June 7, 1992 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Gully. Kim graduated from Fosston High School in 1995.
Kim was the second of six children.  She was very easy going and got along with everyone.  Kim spent a lot of time with her friends and cousins while growing up in Gully.
Kim and Gary Hintz were married at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully on July 10, 1999.  They made their home in Thief River Falls. The most important thing to them was starting a family.  On Oct. 17, 2000 they were blessed with a baby boy named Zachary Michael.  On Feb. 18, 2003 their second blessing was born, a baby boy named Logan Ross.  On Jan. 26, 2005 Kim and Gary were blessed with their first baby girl, Cora Marie. On June 22, 2008 Kim and Gary were blessed with their second baby girl, McKenzie Paytyn.
Children have always been a big part of Kim’s life.  For the past eight years, Kim loved and cared for many children as a daycare provider in Thief River Falls.
Kim enjoyed going camping with Gary and the kids…and there was always room for more as they would bring along their nieces, nephews, and the children’s friends. Family gatherings and holidays were very important to Kim - she would be the first one there and the last one to leave.  Kim was considerate of everyone and put their feelings first. She was there to welcome a new baby or lend a hand if needed.
Kim had a special bond with each of her children and loved them beyond measure. Kim and Gary were supportive of any of their children’s interests from bowling to dance and everything in-between.  Snuggling together on the couch, playing games, making crafts, and just being together were some of the treasured times with her kids. She made sure that her kids were a part of their grandparent’s and aunt’s and uncle’s lives.
Kim is survived by her husband, Gary and their children, Zachary, Logan, Cora, and McKenzie of Thief River Falls; mother, Gail Van de Streek of Thief River Falls; father, Alan (Paula) Van de Streek of Jasper, N.Y.; sisters and brothers, Jessica (Todd) Muller of Thief River Falls, Becky (Brian) Fredrickson of Thief River Falls, Jared (Alyssa) Van de Streek of Red Lake Falls, Justin (Sarah) Van de Streek of Thief River Falls, and Tammi (Jon) Van de Streek of Glendale, Calif.; grandparents, Evelyn Bergerson of Gully, Darleen Lindom of Thief River Falls, and Edward Van de Streek of Thief River Falls; mother-in-law, Valerie (Milton) Dahlsad of Ada; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
