Oslo - Janette Martin, 82, of Oslo, died Saturday Sept. 14, 2013 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 19 at DuBore Funeral Home of Warren. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Granville Cemetery, Oslo.
Janette Rae Martin was born on April 9, 1931 in Oslo, the daughter of Freedom and Hazel (Bratvold) Martin. She attended District 295 Ash Lee School. She was baptized and confirmed at Granville Lutheran Church. Janette was in 4-H as a youth.
After her schooling, she helped with jobs around the farm. In 1961, Jack Martin hired her to cook and clean on the farm. She worked for Jack for 31 years. She moved into Oslo in 1986, where she helped take care of her mother. Janette picked aluminum cans for many years. She estimated at one time that the cans she picked would stretch to California and back three times. She moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home on August 6, 2012.
Left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Donna Omdahl of Warren, and Janice Peterson of Thief River Falls; brother, Jack (Marlene) Martin of Prineville, Ore.; seven nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freedom and Hazel Martin; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Peterson and William Omdahl and nephew, Wayne Omdahl.
