Champlin - Lonnie Ray Norberg, 44, formerly of Thief River Falls, died  unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 on his boat from carbon monoxide poisoning.
A prayer service will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home in Thief River Falls at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 with the burial following at Clearwater Cemetery.
Lonnie was a loving husband, proud father, great friend and cherished family member. He was a master hunter, fisherman, pool shark, football fan, and handyman who loved anything Arctic Cat. His favorite color was Arctic Cat green.
After graduating from Anoka high school in 1987, Lonnie had several jobs, including his own snow removal company and eventually opened his own glass-block company “The Glass Block Guys” in 2003. He married his best friend, Love, on Dec. 4, 2006 and gained not only a loving spouse who put up with all of his hunting and fishing, but became part of the close-knit Liberian community.
On July 28, 2007 they had a ceremony to bless their marriage attended by friends and family.
Lonnie started fishing at a young age and loved coming “up north” to spend time with his family and friends. In his spare time, if he wasn’t on the water trying to catch that trophy muskie, you could find him teaching Ebrena how to drive, cheering Verbena on at tennis or showing Lucas how to throw a football or reel in whichever fish dared to nibble his line. Wherever Lonnie was, Lucas wasn’t far behind.
He was also great at spotting a bargain on a boat, snowmobile or 4-wheeler. He would fix them up and sell them for enough of a profit to go searching for the next thing he could work on.
Lonnie had an amazing group of friends who described him as fun-loving, kind-hearted and said that he was the guy who always made sure everyone was having a good time.
He will be remembered for many things including his infectious laugh and for telling everyone “Don’t worry about me little buddy.”
He is survived by his wife Love; daughters Ebrena and Verbena; son Lucas; mother Linda Arnold (Rudy Borg); sister Tracy Hageman; brother Justin Norberg; “sister” Zena Paul; uncle Ron Arnold (Jean); and cousins Vicki Stokke (Rick), Mike Konickson (Barb), Janelle Nelson (Chad), Lisa Arnold (Hamlin Metzger) and Nenna Arnold.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Wilma Arnold and aunt and uncle Carol and Wayne Konickson.
A memorial fund has been set up for the family, donations can be sent to: The Lonnie Norberg Memorial Fund, Eagle Community Bank, 9600 Upland Lane N., Suite 100, Maple Grove MN 55369.
