Thief River Falls - Harold Buck, 94, of Thief River Falls was called home by his Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 29 in Cottage Grove. 
Harold was born on a farm south of Thief River Falls and went to grade school in a one room school house in St Hilaire. His family moved to Thief River Falls in 1929, where he finished high school and graduated in 1937. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Johnson, at age 16. 
Following high school, Harold worked with his brother, George, at Thief River Body and Fender which they co-owned before going to work on the Soo Line Rail Road as a brakeman.
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the USS Wadsworth as a Chief Petty Officer.  Prior to being deployed in the South Pacific, he and Dorothy were married on Nov. 15, 1942.  Following the war, Harold went back to work on the Soo Line until he retired in the late 1970s. After retirement, Harold and Dorothy enjoyed traveling around the world several times and spent their winters in Spain and Hawaii before returning home to Thief River Falls.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Dorothy; sons, Warren (Cindy) of Woodbury, Sheldon (Maggie) of Nevis; grandchildren, Jeff (Shawna), Stephanie (Eric) Johnson, Natalie (Ben) Sand and Ashleigh Buck along with 11 great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held in Cottage Grove on Aug. 3.
