Salisbury, N.C. - Janis Carol Carpenter, 75, of Salisbury, North Carolina, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in the excellent care of Liberty Care Hospice House.
Janis was born on Sept. 30, 1937 in Crookston, a daughter of Henry Carpenter and Harriet Elizabeth Wood. She moved to the Thief River Falls area and graduated from Lincoln High School.
Janis served her country for 14 years in the Navy. Upon returning to Thief River Falls, she worked for Motor Coach Industries in Pembina and Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls. She retired and moved to Salisbury, N.C. In 2009, she returned to Thief River Falls to care for her special aunt Dorothy Wold. After Dorothy's death she returned to Salisbury.
Janis enjoyed pets of all types, gardening, restoring furniture and country drives with her Uncle Ben to visit friends and relatives.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Raymond Carpenter and sister, Fay Lazowski, Aunt Jean Wold, numerous cousins and special friend Donna Barbee of Salisbury.
Janis was preceeded in death by her Mother and Father, her sister Joyce Carpenter, special Aunt and Uncle Dorothy Wold and Ben Wold and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Janis's request she will be cremated and her ashes scattered throughout her favorite locations.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Hefner VA Medical Center and Liberty Care Hospice House in Salisbury.
