Minnetonka - Kathleen Magdalin (Wald) Connelly, 57, formerly of Thief River Falls, joined heaven's angel choir on Thursday, July 4, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Albert the Great, Minneapolis, on Thursday, July 11.
Music was the theme of Kathy's life. She was born Dec. 12, 1955 into a family of singers on a farm outside of Thief River Falls. Family was at her core and she grew up singing and playing the piano when relatives and friends gathered. When she wasn't singing, she was working with cattle on the farm, walking in the woods and playing with the farm animals along with her 5 siblings.
She attended Moorhead State University, where she majored in music, earning the lead role in The Robber Bridegroom as well as featured soloist in the college travelling concert choir.
Kathy’s voice was a gift she shared for years to come in concerts and recordings with her treasured Basilica of St. Mary's 11:30 Sunday music group, with whom she performed for nearly 30 years, with the Dale Warland Singers, and at various churches, weddings and funerals.
She also volunteered teaching and encouraging art and music with members of her adored mom's group.
She is survived by the love and joys of her life, husband, John and sons, Jack and Joey, all of Minnetonka; cherished sister, Renee (Brian) Chapman, and brother, Robert (Rita) Wald; sister-in-law, Arlene Wald; many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine; father, Frank; step-mother, Katie Jo; brothers, Donald and Anthony; and her sister, Carole.
