Plummer - Roger Allan Hyde, 60, of Plummer, died with dignity in the loving care of the staff of 3 West at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, N.D., Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
There was an informal “Celebration of Life” on Friday, June 28 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Interment will be at a later date at the Hyde family plot, Hillside Memorial Cemetery, Walhalla, N.D. Memorials are suggested to The Humane Society.
Roger was born June 14, 1953 in Red Lake Falls, to Mervin and Edna (Blair) Hyde and was a lifelong resident of the Brooks-Plummer area. He graduated from Pershing High School in Plummer and began working for Bud Zimpel Construction. He later drove truck for several companies including Hutchinson Transfer of Thief River Falls. He was known as a loyal, hardworking and dedicated employee and had a light touch with heavy equipment, working on the range, and on highway projects.
His mechanical ability and love of animals were well known, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved life on the farm and raised cattle until health issues forced his early retirement in 2002. After moving to Plummer he especially enjoyed getting back in the field, working spring and fall with Esp and Melanie Christensen and their crew.
Roger is survived by his brother Dennis Hyde, nephew Corey Hyde both of Detroit Lakes; and nieces Stephanie (Jonathan) Deitz and Stacey Swanson both of Moorhead; as well as five nieces and four nephews. Also surviving is special friend Luan Schuman.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Mervin (1985) and Edna (2005), brother Gerald, niece Dawn, and a long list of four-legged friends including his loyal pals of 14 years, Paco and Princess.
